I Wish We'd All Been Ready

"Life was filled with guns and war
and all of us got trampled on the floor.
I wish we'd all been ready.

Children died. The days grew cold.
A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold.
I wish we'd all been ready.

There's no time to change your mind.
The Son has come and you've been left behind.

A man and wife asleep in bed
She hears a noise and turns her head...He's gone
I wish we'd all been ready.

Two men walking up a hill, One disappears,
and one's left standing still.
I wish we'd all been ready.

There's no time to change your mind.
The Son has come and you've been left behind.

There's no time to change your mind.
How could you have been so blind?
The Father spoke, the demons dined.
The Son has come and you've been left behind."

Later That Evening -- After Church

"Matt, I'm telling you...you're gonna have to buckle down and get right with God. I'm not telling you this just as your Youth Pastor, but as a brother and a friend. You can't straddle the fence. Revelations 3:16 says if you are lukewarm that God is going to spit you out of His mouth.

And Matt, I know that you are lukewarm right now...and I also know about you and Tina what you're planning on doing at the lake this weekend. You may have many people in this youth group fooled, and sometimes you may even have me fooled, but Matt, you'll never have God fooled. He knows what you do, and he sees everything.

Look Matt, I'm warning you... you're gonna play around with sin one time too many, and one day, there will be no chance for forgiveness. In fact, look here with me here in Mark 13 where it says... 'No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come' (vs 32-33).

So you see Matt, the Bible clearly states that you need to be ready. Look here also with me at Revelation 20:15 where it says... 'If anyone's name [is] not found written in the book of life, he [will be] thrown into the lake of fire.' Don't be caught off guard."

"Don't worry Pastor Larry... I'm young... I have plenty of time... I will be ready..."

One Hour Later:

"Tina will you just calm down... Look, if you don't start making some sense, I'm gonna hang up the phone. How do you expect me to believe something like that? I mean, you're telling me that you were sitting on the couch, talking to your mom, and suddenly she vanishes right out of her clothes...and the same goes for your baby sister... How do you expect me to believe something like that? So, what do you think happened Tina, did Scottie beam them up or something? ... You know, Scottie, from Star Trek... No, Tina, I'm not trying to make fun of you... It's just not making sense to me... What?... The Rapture? ... No, Tina, that's not supposed to happen until later -- I read a book about it...

Okay, look... You know my parents are the most on-fire Christians in the world and they are right over here in their bedroom. Hang on...let me grab the cordless. I'll take it to their room so you can talk to my mom real quick... *Matt knocks on door* Mom, Dad...are you guys dressed? ... Mom? ... Dad? ... Tina, hang on a second...they must be asleep...they're not answering... Wait... My dad's snoring can wake up the neighbors. He can't be asleep... Hang on a sec... Mom, Dad are you there? ... Mom? Why won't you answer me? *Matt eases the door open* OH MY GOSH!!!"

"There's no time to change your mind.
The Son has come and you've been left behind."
